Hell, in 2008 I voted for John McCain, and just four years earlier he had flirted openly with running for vice-president on John Kerry’s ticket.

In 2012, I voted for Mitt Romney. He not only killed dogs, but he also spawned the embryonic Obamacare.

In 1996, I voted for Bob Dole, and neither he nor I had the slightest clue as to why he was running for president.

So I will vote for Donald Trump for president. I will not do so enthusiastically, but the last time I voted enthusiastically for president was 1984.

I vote for Republicans not because they are wonderful people with great ideas but because they stand--sometimes firmly, sometimes not—in the way of the progressive tide. How firmly Trump stands remains to be seen, but at least he will muddy the water.

Rest assured, that tide rolls in relentlessly. The semantic shift on the left from “liberal” to “progressive” is a sign thereof. Progressives progress. It is what they do.

As a result, Hillary Clinton has had to disavow those humble successes with which her husband was reluctantly associated: a balanced budget, three strikes and you’re out, welfare reform, the Defense of Marriage Act.

There will be no “Sister Souljah” moment on Hillary’s campaign trail this year. The BLM movement and its deranged allies own the party.

Those allies come wholesale, each cluster with its own acronym and agenda. They include the BDS gang, the LGBT crowd, the OWS crazies, the closet jihadists of CAIR, the bought and paid for NEA, and old reliables like the NAACP, NARAL, and the AFL-CIO.

If Trump is elected president, we will hold our breath when it comes to appointing the next Supreme Court justice.

If Hillary is elected—or Bernie for that matter—we won’t have to. We can be absolutely certain that the next nominee and the next after that will have signed on for the long march through the institutions.

This means no hope of ever overturning Roe v. Wade, no future for religious liberty, and no assurance that the Second Amendment will be allowed to stand.

On the moral front, Hillary comes to office corrupted in ways that only government power can assure. Indeed, no major candidate since Aaron Burr has gotten this close to the presidency with Hillary’s level of taint.

On Tuesday, for instance, I received a call from Nakoula Bassley Nakoula. Nakoula is not a big Hillary fan. A Coptic Christian, he dared to make a video criticizing Islam.

Refusing to accept responsibility for her and Obama’s failed Mideast policy, Hillary chose to shift the blame for the attack on the Benghazi consulate to Nakoula.

Three days after the attack, in separate conversations, Clinton told at least four grieving family members—from three different families—the opposite of what she had told the Egyptian prime minister and the Libyan president, namely that Nakoula’s video provoked the attack.

“We are going to have the film maker arrested who was responsible for the death of your son,” Hillary told Charles Woods, the father of Navy Seal hero Ty Woods.

This time, Hillary was good as her word. She and her colleagues pursued Nakoula, an American citizen, more vigorously than they did the Benghazi attackers.

Nakoula spent the next year in federal custody. He has stories to tell. He asked me to put him in touch with Trump. If anyone knows how, I’ve got Nakoula’s number.

The day after the Indiana primary, any number of my Facebook friends posted messages insisting Trump was as bad a choice as Hillary.

Sorry, say what you will about Trump, but I cannot imagine him ever imprisoning an innocent man to paper over a policy failure and lying in the face of the dead men’s family to pull it off.

Facebook friend, retired Lt. Col. Buzz Patterson, posted a message saying, “For all the ‘Never Trump’ folks, it's time for a reminder. Ask me how I know.” This message was followed by an image of Patterson’s bestseller, “Dereliction of Duty.”

Patterson carried the “nuclear football” for Bill Clinton during the most corrupt year in American political history, 1996. Patterson knows.

I commented, “I'm with Buzz here. If you know the Clintons you cannot let them near the White House.” I then posted an image of my own book, “Ron Brown’s Body.” I assure you. If you read it, you will vote for Trump.

In two months, my book, “TWA 800: The Crash, The Cover-Up, The Conspiracy,” will be published. This astonishing bit of corruption also took place on the Clintons’ watch. If you read it, you will vote for Trump.

This past weekend, I served as a delegate to the convention for the 5th District, Missouri. I knew many of the Cruz delegates, perhaps most.

I knew none of the Trump people. For all the Donald’s imperfections—I don’t need to be reminded—he has brought people to the Republican Party who have never voted before, let alone voted Republican.

The Republican turnout in Missouri was 50 percent higher on primary day than was the Democratic turnout, and Missouri has historically been a swing state.

On June 10 of last year, a week before Trump declared, I opened a WND article with the sentence, “The Republican nominee for president will be that candidate who best learns there is no future in apologizing.”

I suspect I was right. Voters were looking for a candidate with cojones. Trump is not the candidate we purists were hoping would emerge, but he is one who did.

He will not kill the Republican Party. Only we can.
